We both grew up here in Glen Innes. It’s a beautiful, friendly, little town. It’s cold through in Winter. And in Autumn it gets quite cool, but it’s a lovely, little, family friendly town.
So, we chose to build a relocatable home because of the timeframe in which it was going to be completed.
About a week after we purchased our block of land, there was an ad for Westbuilt in ‘The Land’ newspaper. Had a look on the website and went through lots and lots of different designs over the next fifteen to sixteen months. I looked and compared a particular design to about eight different companies in the area and after sixteen months went full circle and went back to the very first plan we looked at.
This particular design met our brief. So when we first bought the block of land we had a few things in mind. We wanted three bedrooms plus an office/playroom area. We wanted two bathrooms. I wanted a Butler’s Pantry. We wanted the bedrooms to be separate from the living area and the potential to have the back verandah. So that was what we were looking for and that was what we found in ‘The Fitzroy’ design.
We altered the fourth bedroom to become the office and playroom area. So we altered the door to come off the living room, so that we had line of sight. There were lots of things, where I’d wake up in the middle of the night and go “Oh, maybe we should try this. Or what if we moved this to here?” So I’d send an email at that time, while I thought of it and Jim would reply within hours of being in the office the next morning.
We went to Warwick to the factory and spent a few hours doing our colour choices, carpet, flooring, the kitchen, the laminates, all of that. From there we were sent progress photos, and every single photo came on time on the due date or the day before.
The movers, you have the truck drivers actually bringing the pieces into the yard which was phenomenal. I’ve asked my husband a couple of times along the way, “Now that you’ve been here is there anything that you’d change?” Neither of us have come up with anything. Really really happy, happy with the design, happy with the colour choices. It’s working for our family. We love it.
