Customer Story - Peter & Dianne Heuke
"When I first met with Jim, who is one of the Westbuilt family, I really enjoyed talking to him. He essentially almost sold us on building with them based on him.”
I love living out here just because it’s peaceful, it’s away from general traffic.
Our house that we were in previously on this same block of land was falling apart.
The house (from Westbuilt Homes) turned up in two parts. One, one day and one the next day and they just slipped through the front gate and were put in place, set them on the stumps and away we go.
Essentially within two days we went from no house here to having a house that was all put together. And one of the reasons…that we went with Westbuilt was that we could have a house on stumps and they were adjustable stumps. So we can move the house and adjust it as needed. So, in the dry season, the ground dries up and we can adjust the stumps to allow for that.
We went with Westbuilt as the company as they are family owned. That really appealed to us. When I first met with Jim, who is one of the Westbuilt family, I really enjoyed talking to him. He essentially almost sold us on building with them based on him.
I love the fact that Westbuilt Homes was so adaptable. I knew that I wanted a house with a butler's pantry in it. My husband knew that he wanted a house where he could have Colourbond cladding. When Jim first came and spoke to us, we had settled on a plan that we wanted but we wanted to make some adjustments to it to suit our property. We wanted to turn it around so that it faced backwards. We took in the views of the hills around us and we wanted our bedroom separated from the other bedrooms in the house so that we had a bit of privacy. We could do all that through Westbuilt.
I have my office set up in my bedroom. It takes advantage of the best views in the house so that while I’m working I can zone out and look into the distance instead of necessarily a screen right in front of me all the time.
The kitchen is my favourite place… and when I was designing it all I built the kitchen for me. I knew that I wanted an island (bench). The original plans didn’t have an island in it. So Jim and I came up with the idea of taking the cupboards from one place and making an island out of them. I didn’t want overhead cabinets because I wanted to keep the lines of the house as clean and clear as possible…without the feeling of being hemmed in with overhead cabinets. So instead of that I put floating shelves in…because I knew I had the butler’s pantry to put things into and hide them away.
I would definitely recommend Westbuilt Homes. It’s just the experience was brilliant from start to finish. There were absolutely no dramas with any of my dealings with them. Everyone that we dealt with including the tradesmen onsite were brilliant.
